Jl. Merdaka 10, Rantepao, Sulawesi Selatan, Indonesia 91831 Description Nicely located just down from Bakmie Gentong, looking out over the football field which is Rantepao’s only real park, it does look a bit shabby from the outside but once inside and after you have climbed the spiral staircase you enter the Cafe’ seating area with a choice of tables or floor seating area’s. What we really like about this place is the view over the field onto the mountains making it a great place to browse the net and have something to eat. The staff don’t speak English but are very friendly. Suggestion Go for the Kapurung a Sago based soup served with pieces of chicken, vegetables, peanuts and sweetcorn (8,000 rp) Price All food is between 7-25,000 rp. Drinks range from 6,000 rp for an Es Teler to 10,000 rp for a coconut juice.

Jl. A. Mappanyuki No. 64, Rantepao, Sulawesi Selatan, Indonesia 91831 Description Cafe Aras is Toraja’s first art cafe. The owner used to run an antique Torajan wood carvings art shop. His vision was to create an arty setting with great food so he founded Cafe Aras. The place feels welcoming as soon as you enter. The walls are made of split bamboo rising up to kamacha (woven bamboo) to the ceiling. They’ve put lots of art and textiles to the walls (make an offer if you see something you like!). Stylish wooden tables and chairs are set out over two mezzanine floors on either end of the place. Cafe Aras has an open kitchen in the back next to an outside seating area. Their extensive menu covers everything from Torajan dishes over Indonesian classics to western food. Service is fast & the friendly staff speaks English well. In the evenings Cafe Aras is a vibrant hub where travellers hang out, drink beers and share their stories of the day while local guides play guitar and sing songs. Suggestion Try their tasty pork in pamarasan sauce for 45,000 rp or maybe a yummy pizza. Price theres lots of choice western food …
